Google announced its new Pixel devices, Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL at Google Developer Conference, Google I/O 2019. Finally, the wait is over and the new phones are here. It’s a new mid-range device from Google to make Pixel experience affordable, for them who could not afford the Flagship ones.
Specs: Pixel 3a and 3a XL
The Pixel 3a features a 5.6 inch gOLED display, which is a OLED display and name given by Google, with an 18:9 aspect ratio, and a resolution of 2220×1080 pixels. Its bigger sibling the Pixel 3a XL features a large 6 inch gOLED display with 18:9 aspect ratio and with a resolution of 2160×1080 pixels.
Looking wise both the phones are similar and have the design like of premium Pixel phones, with two tone finish on the back panel but the body is polycarbonate build instead of glass build. It has the same fingerprint scanner and single camera on the back.
Coming to the performance part, both the Pixel 3a and 3a XL are powered by Snapdragon 670 SoC, which is coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It has dual SIM option (one is a regular SIM and another one is eSIM). It comes with the Google Titan M security chip to keep your data safe. You will get other options like Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 801.11ac, NFC, Google Cast and more.
It has a USB-C port with fast charging support, stereo speakers and 3.5mm headphone jack. It also comes with Active Edge like of Pixel 3 series which wakes up Google Assistant when you squeeze the phone.
Now comes the most highlighting feature of the new Pixel 3a series, its camera. It features a 12.2 MP (f/1.8) Sony IMX363 sensor as the rear camera which is the same camera that the premium Pixel 3 series features. The selfie camera is a 8MP (f/2.0) sensor.
Google includes the Pixel Visual Core chipset to enable better and faster image processing. It comes with all the camera features that a Pixel 3 has including the Photobooth and Night Sight, which can capture great photos in dark.
Both the Pixel 3a and 3a XL are basically the same devices except the screen size and the battery capacity. The former packs a 3,000mAh battery while the latter packs a larger 3,700mAh battery.
Pricing and Availibility
Google launched these devices as a mid-range devices which are also affordable, it starts with $399 in the US market, but in India the prices are way too high than expectations. The prices in India starts with Rs. 39,999 for the Pixel 3a and Rs. 44,999 for the Pixel 3a XL for 4GB and 64GB varient.
The phone has only one memory variant. The colours you can choose are Just Black, Clearly White and Purple-ish. In India, you can buy Pixel 3a series starting from 15th May.

That’s all about the newly launched Pixel devices. It’s a great device for photography.
